Bicicletas brancas como lápides

Conhecem as bicicletas brancas que estão na Avenida Paulista? Foram colocadas lá como uma forma de luto, ou túmulo simbólico, em homenagem à ciclistas que morreram no trânsito naquele local.
Do you know the white bicycles on Paulista Avenue? Someone put them there as a form of mourning, or symbolic tomb in honor of cyclists who died in traffic at that location.

E não só no Brasil: cheguei a ver outras "bikes" como estas em outros lugares -- só não sei dizer se elas estão lá pelos mesmos motivos do que as bicicletas paulistanas, se foi por causa de alguém que foi morto ou não:
And not only in Brazil: I have seen other "bikes" like this in other places -- but I just can not tell if they are there for the same reasons that São Paulo's bikes, if they are there because some people were killed or not:

Edimburgo, Escócia, no centro.
Edinburgh, Scotland, in downtown.

Em Londres, Inglaterra, perto da estação King's Cross.
In London, England, near King's Cross station.

Em Roma, Itália, não muito longe do Coliseu.
In Rome, Italy, not too far from Colosseum.

Outro dia ouvi alguém chamar essas bicicletas brancas de "bicicletas fantasmas", por causa da cor e da situação -- mas eu não gostei do termo, é uma falta respeito...
Another day I heard someone denominate those white bikes like "ghost bikes", because of the color and the situation -- but I don't like this term, it's a lack of respect...
