PRIDE AND PREJUDICE
Jane was twenty-one years old when she started writing the novel, which was completed at Steventon.
It was originally called First Impressions.
Jane's father offered it to a publisher who refused it and it remained untouched for some years.
After revision it was published in 1813, soon after the appearance of Sense and Sensibility.
It is a light and lyrical novel and of all her books is perhaps the favourite.
Jane says of her heroine, Elizabeth Bennet "I must confess that I think her as delightful a creature as ever appeared in print".
ORGULHO E PRECONCEITO

(Charlie Chaplin)
"If you cannot understand that the sky should be within you,
it is useless to seek it above the clouds and alongside stars.
As much as you have erred and you continue erring,
always there will be hope for you,
while you be ashamed of your mistakes."
